Here are Thursday’s weather alerts from the National Weather Service (NWS).

Winter storm warning: south-central Colorado.

Winter weather advisory: northern, central, and south-central Colorado; north-central and northeastern New Mexico.

Freeze warning: northwestern California.

Freeze watch: north-central and northeastern Colorado; Washington, D.C.; western Maryland; eastern West Virginia; northern Virginia.

Frost advisory: southwestern Oregon; northwestern California.

High wind warning: Northwestern Montana.

Wind advisory: Nevada-Arizona border; Arizona-California border; western, central, and southeastern New Mexico; extreme western Texas.

World Series weather forecast for Friday

A cold front will arrive on Friday ahead of Game 1 of the World Series in Houston. Because of this, there is a likelihood the roof of the stadium will be closed to prevent the weather from impacting the game, KHOU 11 reported.

The forecast calls for a chance of rain that is expected to push through and be out of downtown by game time, although a stray lingering shower is a possibility.

2 systems strengthening in Atlantic and Caribbean, could become named storms

Two disturbances in the Atlantic have strengthened, increasing the possibility that both will become named tropical storms.

“Disturbance 1” has been given a 40 percent chance of cyclone formation within the next 48 hours or 5 days, according to the National Hurricane Center(NHC). The storm is expected to meander west or southwest of Bermuda.

“Disturbance 2” in the Eastern Caribbean has a 50 percent chance of cyclone formation in the next 5 days as it moves westward or West-northwestward into the central Caribbean Sea.

Thursday: Severe weather in Texas, Snow in the West

The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has issued a Level 2 severe weather risk over central and northwestern Texas into Southwestern Oklahoma for Thursday. The storm has a 15 percent likelihood of large hail, a five percent chance of damaging winds, and a low two percent chance of spotting a tornado.

Heavy rain associated with an atmospheric river or “pineapple express” is expected late Thursday into early Friday over western Washington, King 5 reported, which will also bring gusty winds. Rain is also expected for northwestern Oregon. Parts of Washington can expect a wintry mix.

Rain in the central US from Kansas to the Dakotas and Minnesota.

Thunderstorms from southern Kansas southward across Oklahoma and throughout most of Texas into Mexico and along the Gulf. Thunderstorms over central Florida.

Snow over southeastern Wyoming and from North to South across central and western Colorado into north-central New Mexico, where some heavy snow is forecast. The remainder of central and northeastern New Mexico is anticipating mixed precipitation.

Friday: Severe weather for Texas Gulf

Rain will continue over Western Washington and Oregon, while central and northeastern Washington will see a wintry mix extending into northern Idaho and Northwestern Montana.

Thunderstorms for the South-Central US over parts of Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle, as well as thunderstorms over northeastern Florida and southeastern Georgia.

The SPC has issued a Level 2 severe weather risk for southeastern Texas and along the Gulf Coast south of Houston.

Saturday: Southern storms, severe weather possible

The SPC has issued a Level 1 severe weather risk over southeastern Louisiana, central and southern Mississippi, and southwestern Alabama into the extreme western Florida Panhandle.

Rain over Western and Central Washington and Oregon, with scattered mixed precipitation, heavier to the east and a wintry mix will extend into northern Idaho and Northwestern Montana. Rain for northwestern California.

Thunderstorms over the south-central US, South, mid-South, and parts of the Ohio Valley affecting portions of Texas, and Oklahoma, while much of Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, and into portions of the Florida Panhandle, Georgia, the Carolinas, the Virginias, and the southern areas of Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio.

Thunderstorms along the northern coast of Florida and the coastlines of Georgia and South Carolina.

Sunday: Rain in the Northwest, Thunderstorms in the East

Heavy rain will continue over western and central Washington into northwestern Oregon. Mixed precipitation over northeastern Washington into northern Idaho and northwestern Montana.

Thunderstorms in the East over much of the Ohio Valley, mid-South, and into parts of the South and Southeast over the Virginias, the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi.
