Death Valley gets year’s worth of rainfall in 3 hours – a 1,000-year event

Last Friday, Death Valley, one of the hottest places on earth and considered extremely dry, got nearly an entire year’s worth of rain in just over three hours, the National Weather Service said, calling the 1.47 inches of rain a 1,000-year event for the area, meaning there is only 1.1% chance of it happening in any given year. Just-released images by a European Space Agency Satellite before and after the rains show the startling differences in the landscape, Fox 19 reported.
