US heat wave underway, will challenge records in central US
Excessive heat is on this week, affecting parts of the West, Northwest, central US, and South on Monday. The heat is likely to challenge the record books in the country’s midsection and will expand throughout the coming days this week and stay with us for the month of July. The entire country is expected to carry above-average temperatures, the Weather Channel reported.
The highest temperatures will be in the Plains, but many other areas will see triple-digit heat over the next three days including Salt Lake City, Billings, North Platte, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Dodge City, Tulsa, Laredo, Dallas, and Memphis.
The heat index will also reach the 100 mark in areas such as Fargo, Minneapolis, and Kansas City. Even the overnight and morning lows are going to be high across the nation with mid-to-upper 70s in Houston, New Orleans, Memphis, and Raleigh, and the 80s and Las Vegas, Abilene, and Dallas.

UK may break all-time heat record
The UK is enduring a searing heat wave and is facing its hottest day on record, BBC reported. The Met Office issued a red extreme heat warning on Monday and Tuesday in much of England, where temperatures are forecast to hit up to 41 Celsius (106F). The current high record for the UK was set in Cambridge when temperatures reached 38.7 C in 2019.

The NWS has issued a flood watch for Monday over southwestern Indiana, southern Ohio, northern Kentucky, Washington, D.C., central and western Maryland, eastern West Virginia, and northern Virginia.
3-Day Severe Weather Forecast
Monday: The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has issued severe weather risk warnings for Monday over three areas of concern. The first is over the northern tier of the US, a Level 2 severe weather risk extends from northeastern Montana across the northern half of North Dakota, northern Minnesota, and into northern Wisconsin and northern Michigan.
The second is a Level 3 severe weather risk over northeastern Montana and northern North Dakota.
The third is in the mid-Atlantic and Northeast, a Level 2 severe weather risk over portions of Maryland, Delaware, Eastern Pennsylvania, northern New Jersey, southern and eastern New York, Western Connecticut, Western Massachusetts, central and southern Vermont, and southwestern New Hampshire.
Tuesday: A Level 2 severe weather risk for the upper Midwest over northeastern North Dakota, northern and East-central Minnesota, northern Michigan, into northern and central Wisconsin.
Wednesday: A Level 2 severe weather risk in the East over northern Kentucky, Western and Northern West Virginia, southern central and eastern Ohio, western Pennsylvania, and extreme western New York
