A wide area of disturbed weather in the northern Gulf of Mexico that stretches from the Florida Panhandle across the coast of Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana looks to bring days of heavy rainfall, lightning, rip currents, and the potential for flooding, the Weather Channel reported.

The system now appears unlikely to become a tropical depression, with the National Hurricane Center (NHC) giving it less than a 40% chance of becoming a tropical depression over the next 5 days.

The latest 3-day forecast from the National Weather Service (NWS) is showing thunderstorms over the next three days in the South with a risk of heavy rain and possible flash flooding.

On Wednesday, the areas of potential flooding include portions of Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee.

Rescuers in Tennessee save more than a dozen people who were trapped in rising floodwaters at a campground on Tuesday night after flash floods roared through the Greenbrier Campground in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, according to WVLT-TV, Fox reported.

Photos showed cars tossed like toys against trees at precarious angles with wheels off the ground. Residents of the area displaced by flooding on the Little Pigeon River were also evacuated. Strong thunderstorms in West, Midwest

Scattered thunderstorms across the US could be strong in a few areas on Wednesday, bringing a marginal chance of severe weather. In the West, potentially strong thunderstorms over northeastern Colorado into Northwestern Kansas and Western Nebraska. In the upper Midwest, potentially strong storms over east-central Minnesota into Northwestern and central Wisconsin, according to the SPC.

The NWS is showing potential strong storms over central and north-central Montana.

Heat continues in the West and South

Another day of high temperatures for parts of the West, the south-central US, and the South. The National Weather Service efferent NWS) has issued the following heat-related alerts for Wednesday:

Excessive heat warning: southeast Washington; northeast Oregon; southern Idaho; northwestern Utah.
