Over 210 million – over 85% of Americans – will face temperatures over 90F on Friday. That number could climb to over 275 million next week, with severe weather and flooding threats over the weekend.

An estimated 256 million Americans will be under heat warnings, with over 210 million facing temperatures of over 90 degree. Meteorologists warn of triple digits heat or heat indexes in many areas.

This weekend, it’s expected that more than 85% of Americans will experience temperatures above ninety degrees, the Daily Mail reported.

As we move into next week, that number could rise to 275 million, NBC’s Today reported on Twitter.

NWS weather alerts for Friday

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued the following weather alerts for Friday.

Excessive heat warning: southern, southwestern, southeastern, and desert areas of California; western, northwestern, central, and southern Arizona; southern Utah; southern Nevada.

Heat advisory for portions of Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Alabama, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire.

Red flag warning for portions of Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and South Dakota.

Flood watch: northern and central New Mexico.

Here is the latest 3-day forecast from the National Weather Service. Heat will continue throughout the weekend and persist through next week.

Friday: Baking temps and scattered thunderstorms

Scattered thunderstorms over parts of the northern and southern Rockies, Southwest, central US, Ohio Valley, mid-Atlantic, and predominate over the South and Southeast.

No severe weather in the forecast but strong storms are possible over several regions. In the West, over Utah and Wyoming. In the central US over the Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, and Indiana. In the mid-Atlantic over Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New York.

Saturday: Severe weather, flood risk

Scattered thunderstorms over parts of the West, Southwest, and South, and particularly strong over the upper Midwest, with spotty showers for parts of the mid-Atlantic and Northeast.

Severe weather over the upper Midwest and Great Lakes regions will bring a Level 3 and a Level 2 severe weather threat to parts of Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin, spilling over into northern Illinois, according to the Storm Prediction Center (SPC).

A risk of flash flooding is possible over southern Arizona, as well as over central and north-central Colorado.

Sunday: Scattered thunderstorms, flood risk

Scattered thunderstorms over parts of the northern and southern Rockies, Southwest, Midwest, and over much of the Ohio Valley, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast where some storms could be strong. Storms over the southern latitudes of the South and most of Florida.

The risk of flash flooding will continue over central and north-central Colorado, as well as over southern Arizona.
